Revolutionary Act in Bengal

Bengal

  • Although revolutionary events in Bengal are thought to have started after the Partition of Bengal (1905 AD), but some revolutionary organizations had come into existence before that.
  • In 1902, the first revolutionary organization Anushilan Samiti in Bengal was founded by Gyanendra Nath Basu in Midnapore and Jatindra Nath Banerjee and Barindra Nath Ghosh in Calcutta.
  • Apart from the Anushilan Samiti, Suhrad Samiti (Mymen Singh), Sadhana Samiti, Swadesh Bandhav Samiti (Barisal), Brati Samiti (Faridpur) also conducted terrorist activities in Bengal.
  • After the partition of Bengal, many revolutionary newspapers began to be published in Bengal, the main ones being Sandhya, Brahmabandhav Upadhyaya, Bandemataram (Arvind Ghosh). Yugantar (Bhupendra Nath Dutt) etc.
